America Shad Fishing on the Kennebec River is great and getting better every year. The removal of the Edwards Dam in Augusta created 17 miles of free flowing river that is ideal for shad and stripers. You can catch some fish from shore but with my river boat, I can anchor anywhere and access every run on the river. Two anglers are able to stand up and spin or fly-fish with ease. The shad are 16"-25" and are getting bigger every year.

The Shad show up around the first of May and are around into July.
